National Highway Route, Border Roxas City and Sigma
Summer of 2003 me and my neighborhood barkadas went to boracay for a 3-day summer treat. We are from Iloilo City and its just 6 hours away from Caticlan port so we decided to use my L300 van going to Caticlan, leave the van to the parking tender at Caticlan port and ride a 30 minute "pump-boat" ferry to boracay island. We enjoyed ourselves partying and and did lots of naughty things at Boracay. On the third day we set out for the trip home. We left Boracay island monday 10:30am and arrived 11:15am at Caticlan port. We bought some snacks there before driving all the way back to Iloilo City via National Highway Road. 1:45pm we stopped over at Altavas Town, Aklan to eat because we were all hungry. I ate too much during that time and i felt sleepy so i told my barkadas that we'll just stay at the town for the time being while i take a 1 hour nap because its much dangerous to drive sleepy than driving drunk. I took my nap and so did my barkadas. Since all of us were tired, nobody got up within 1 hour. We were all asleep until 8:30pm when Juni finally got up and played pranks on us like pouring water on your neck or piercing your butt with a toothbrush to wake us all up. I drove on at 60-80kmh speed, it was so dark already that i always tend to use high beam light because there was no road lights. 11pm we were at the crossover bordering Sigma Capiz and Roxas City Aklan. I slowed down to 20-30kmh so that we could take a peek at a certain old house that was rummored to be haunted. We were sharing about some stories that we heard about from that place and laughed at it, then suddenly i noticed that my van was swivering to the right that i cant seem to control it properly. I stopped to check it out and found out that our rear right tire was flat. I called evryone to get off and help me change the tires. Nilo helped me while Juni and Onyok held the flash light. Just as i was tightening the bolts of the wheel i told Onyok and and Nilo to load up the flat tire at the back of the van. As they where loading it they noticed someone was inside the van sitting right in the middle row. Nilo froze while Onyok tapped me saying "pre may tao sa loob". Anxious about what Onyok said, Juni and I went to see who was inside with our flashlights. To our horror we saw a middle aged man wearing an old barong suit and brown pants with bulging sore eyes and a cracked forehead staring angrily straight at us. My hair stood on one end and I ran at the back of the van together with Juni. The four of us were pale in fear and panting. We whispered our prayers and after a moment an army truck passed by and stopped after seing us. They asked us if we have any problems and Onyok told them about what happened. I thought they will laugh at us but they didnt, instead they went silently to check our van but they found nothing. They said its okay to go home now, the ghost wont bother us anymore after a kilometer from that area. They also said that we should take heed and pray when we pass that area because there are lots of accidents already that occured in that area since before and that place is "mari-iton" or "mari-it". We went back on the van and continued driving while praying continously on our way back home.
